Four London women have been selected as Semi Finalists in The Remote Worker Awards, in association with BT Business. Elisa Roche, from London, is aiming for The Lucent Vision New Internet Business Award and hopes to win her own website build. Freelancers, Teresa Klasener, from Streatham and Elizabeth Harrin, from London, are competing for The PCG Freelancer Award, while Jo Fazel, who runs a home business from Acton, hopes to win The BT Home Business Award.
The Remote Worker Awards has already appealed to hundreds of eager entrants around the UK. Home workers, remote workers, freelance consultants and actors-turned-teachers who aim to win their own drama academy, as well as wannabe entrepreneurs who dream of winning a new home based franchise worth £10k or internet business worth £2k, have all given inspiring accounts of why they should win their Award.
The four women will now go towards the finals in August before the winning ceremony, which will be held at The Grand Connaught Rooms in London where high profile guests Karen Darby and Claire Young will present prizes.
Elisa, Showbusiness Editor of the Daily Express, just off a plane from abroad, was also delighted with her news and said: “I’m very excited to be nominated and hope to prove that, in the future, everyone will be able to work more flexibly.
“The traditional office environment has its many benefits and will always have its place. But there’s no doubt that remote working can help busy women strike a better work/ life balance.”
Teresa said: “Wow! That's absolutely fantastic! I've never been a semi finalist in anything before, so it feels great and I feel valued! Brilliant!”
While Jo was speechless, Elizabeth was jumping for joy: “I'm delighted to be a semi-finalist in the awards! It's a great opportunity and I hope it shows that freelancing and having a portfolio career are real possibilities for women today. I'm so pleased and crossing my fingers!”
Award winning website, Remote Employment, Google’s No 1 job site for flexible and home based jobs, launched The Remote Worker Awards in association with BT Business to highlight how home working and remote working benefits the British public and their working life.
